For over a decade Truck has been constantly evolving, updating and tweaking the many stages that are on offer. This year Truck 14 can boast its biggest expanse yet!
Main Stage
The Main Tuck Stage will be re-located to Steventon’s natural amphitheatre, enhancing sound and Truck’s unique festival experience. This year the likes of Bellowhead and Gruff Rhys, to name a few, have been confirmed to play, making 2011 one of Truck’s most exciting years yet.
Clash Stage – New to 2011
One of the festival’s most notable developments this year is the arrival of a brand spanking new stage. The Clash Stage will be curated by three of the UK’s top independent record labels. Transgressive Records, Heavenly Recordings and Bella Union. All three labels have clubbed together and joined Truck to merge one of the best stage line-ups this summer. On Friday, Trangressive will be taking the reins showcasing some of the finest acts around followed by Heavenly recordings Saturday and finally Bella Union on Sunday .
Wood Stage – New to 2011
Wood Festival has proved to be a fantastic addition to Oxford festival season, acting as Oxfordshire’s only 100% sustainable and environmentally friendly festival. A true fun family event, Wood is yet another string on Truck’s rather large bow. This year Truck has decided to share the Wood experience and bring a slice of the festival to Truck. To give fans a taster of what Wood feels like, we are pleased to announce the new Wood Stage in the Wood Field. Curated by Nonclassical on Friday and Oxford Folk Festival on Saturday and Sunday, the Wood Stage will bring with it a community spirit with live folk music and plenty of activities for children alongside eco-friendly workshops.
Last FM Stage
Due to the success of last year, Last FM will be returning to provide us with their own stage. On Friday BBC Oxford Introducing will be this year’s host and curator, ensuring a line-up that includes the finest cutting edge music the county has to offer. Friday’s BBC line-up will be announced early next week including a few surprise artists along the way. On Saturday Oxford’s vibrant and most talked about ‘musical movement’ Blessing Force will be taking charge, supplying a truly diverse and exciting line-up of Oxford artists. If that doesn’t quench you musical thirst, Sunday will see a line-up curated by our very own Truck Store. Details for all artists appearing on the Last FM Stage will be announced shortly.
Theatre Tent
The Oxford Playhouse has always been at the heart of the city’s theatre land. This year the theatre is coming to Truck. Merging music and theatre has always been an ambition of Truck owner Robin Bennett and finally this year’s festival will have its own Theatre stage completely curated by The Oxford Playhouse. The Playhouse will be sharing some of Oxford finest performances such as One Small Step, The Secret Garden and Etiquette.
Cabaret Tent
This year’s cabaret stage is set to continue long into the summer night providing Truck revellers with a whole host of bands, burlesque dancers; DJ’s and acts reminiscent of 50’s American sub-culture.
The Long Insiders and Rabbit Foot Spasm Band are two of Oxford’s finest nostalgic rockabilly acts that will compliment Truck’s diverse and eclectic tastes. The Rabbit Foot Spasm Band shows are a succession of two or three minute up tempo numbers, lots of brass, rasping sax, raucous rhythm, tap dancing and a stage that’s set for authentic, prohibition-era, serious drinking.
Boxford Dance Stage
This year’s expansion of the Boxford Dance Stage will ensure festival goers a good time long into the night. With a whole host of genres that include techno, disco, drum & bass, dubstep, dub, reggae, ambient, funk, electro, breakbeat , Boxford will be party central throughout the July weekend.
