Since his early beginnings in York, Ben has established himself as a formidable singer songwriter and has already accumulated a huge following as well as gaining support from Zane Lowe, Jo Whiley and Dermot O’Leary to name a few. This year will prove to be a huge turning point in Ben’s short career. In March Ben travelled to Austin, Texas for the 2011 SXSW festival sharing his talent with his first all American audience.
Already the self-taught 21 year old possesses huge critical acclaim for debut single ‘A Million Miles Out’ and ‘Atlas Hands’, which was hailed as Zane Lowe’s ‘Hottest Record of the Week’ on Radio 1 and included in Jo Whiley’s songs of 2010. Since playing Whiley’s Union Chapel gig late last year, Leftwich has continued to grow in popularity and is currently embracing the summer festival season, playing at Glastonbury, Greenman, Bestival, Latitude, Reading and Leeds Festivals.
Alongside an impressive array of big name festival slots, Ben will be supporting James Morrison at this year’s iTunes Festival. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Ben is about to embark on a wealth of success this year alone. People nationwide are waking up to his unique smokey, soothing voice and we are delighted he will be on this year’s line-up, topping the bill at the Wood Stage on Saturday.
Ben’s debut album ‘Last Smoke before the Snowstorm’ is out next Monday 4th July and is already being received with open arms.
